COVID-19 Reopening Notice

June 20, 2020

To our patients and families:

Thank you for your patience as we gradually resume in-office appointments. We are excited to be able to work with our patients in person, and we ask for your assistance in doing so safely. Please read the following notifications carefully. Failure to comply with reopening safety and hygiene procedures will result in dismissal from services.

  • Beginning June 24, Birdsong will resume in-person appointments for patients who are unable to participate in teletherapy (remote) sessions. Until further notice, our policy is to opt for teletherapy if the therapist and patient or caregivers determine therapy can be effectively delivered (and reimbursed) remotely. Exceptions will be made on a case-by-case basis. Please note that these determinations should be made based on the effectiveness of therapy for each patient, NOT personal preference or convenience. In the event that an SLP feels teletherapy is appropriate and effective for a patient, but the family’s preference is for in-person visits, treatment may be put on-hold until Lane County enters Phase 3 of reopening.

  • Adult patients and caregivers of pediatric patients should plan to bring and wear masks. Pediatric patients who are able to wear a mask and still participate in treatment should also have and be encouraged to wear masks (we understand this may not work for some children).

  • Patients and caregivers who demonstrate any signs of illness (including but not limited to coughing, sneezing, shortness of breath, fever) will be immediately dismissed from the office and may resume therapy in 14 days if symptoms have resolved, or upon presentation of current negative COVID-19 test results.

  • Patients should enter the office alone, if appropriate. If necessary, patients may be accompanied by 1 caregiver. No additional family members or caregivers will be admitted into the office.

  • Birdsong staff will check temperatures of all individuals using a touchless thermometer and will conduct a brief symptoms interview upon entering the office upon entry. Birdsong therapists reserve the right to refuse entry to anyone based on these results.

Thank you for your understanding and compliance. The safety and well-being of our clients, families, and staff is our utmost priority. Feel free to contact us for more information or clarification.
